Video to GIF
Pick a few seconds of an MP4, MOV or WebM video and turn them into a looping GIF for chats or a website. Choose the width and frames per second to balance smoothness and size.
How to use it
- 1Choose a video: MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV.
- 2Drag the start and end handles, or type the times, to pick the part you want. A few seconds is best.
- 3Pick a width and frames per second, press Make GIF and download it.
Frequently asked questions
How long can the GIF be?
Up to 300 frames: 30 seconds at 10 frames per second, or 15 seconds at 20. Wider GIFs can be a little shorter, because every frame is made on your device. The tool tells you the longest part that fits before you start.
Why is my GIF so much bigger than the video?
A GIF stores every frame as a separate picture, so it is far bigger than the same seconds of MP4. For a smaller file choose a shorter part, a smaller width or fewer frames per second: 10 fps at 320 or 480 px suits most chats.
Does the GIF have sound?
No. GIFs can't hold sound, so only the picture is kept. To share a short clip with its sound, trim the video instead.
Will the GIF play on a loop?
Yes. It plays over and over, like the GIFs in WhatsApp, Telegram and on websites.
Why do the colours look a little rough?
Each GIF frame can have only 256 colours, so smooth skies and skin can look banded. Bright, simple scenes turn out best.
