Trim Video
Cut a phone video down to the part you want: drag the start and end on a timeline or type exact times. When the cut allows it, the clip is saved in seconds without re-encoding.
How to use it
- 1Choose a video from your phone or computer: MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV.
- 2Drag the start and end handles, or type the exact times. Play the clip to check it.
- 3Press Trim video and download the clip. It keeps the same format as your video.
Frequently asked questions
Does trimming a video lower its quality?
Not when the start falls on a keyframe: the clip is copied as it is, which is quick and loses nothing. Otherwise it is re-encoded at about the original bitrate so it begins on exactly the frame you chose. The tool tells you which will happen and can move the start to the nearest keyframe for you.
Can I trim an iPhone video?
Yes. iPhone videos are MOV files, and the trimmed clip stays a MOV. Copying works in any browser; a cut that needs re-encoding an HEVC video needs a browser that can play HEVC, such as a recent Chrome or Edge on a computer, and is saved as H.264.
How do I trim a video to an exact time?
Type the start and end in the time boxes as minutes and seconds, like 0:12.50 and 1:05, or press Start here and End here while the video plays. The clip length is shown under the timeline.
Is there a limit on how long the video can be?
You can open videos up to 4 GB. A long video takes only as long as your device needs to read it.
