Change Video Speed
Make a slow-motion or fast-forward video: 0.5× plays at half speed, 2× at double, anywhere from 0.25× to 4×. Preview the speed first, keep the sound or mute it, and save an MP4.
How to use it
- 1Choose a video.
- 2Pick a speed, or type your own between 0.25 and 4, and play the preview to check it.
- 3Choose whether to keep the sound, press Change speed and download the MP4.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to the sound?
It changes speed with the video, and so does its pitch: voices sound higher when sped up and lower when slowed down, like a tape. Keeping the original pitch at a new speed isn't possible here. To leave the sound out, tick Mute.
Will slow motion look smooth?
Slowing down shows each frame for longer, so a 30 fps video at 0.5× plays at 15 frames a second and can look a little jerky. Videos recorded at 60 fps, or in your phone's slow-motion mode, slow down more smoothly.
How do I make a timelapse from a long video?
Pick 4× to make it four times faster. For more, change the speed of the result again: two rounds at 4× make it sixteen times faster.
Which format is the new video?
An MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound, which plays on every phone and in WhatsApp, Instagram and YouTube. A sped-up video keeps at most 60 frames a second.
