JSON to CSV
Convert a JSON list, an API response or JSON Lines into CSV that opens in Excel. Nested fields become columns like address.city, and the list of records is found for you.
Tip: choose several files at once to process them all with the same settings.
How to use it
- 1Choose or drop a JSON file, or paste the JSON.
- 2Check the preview. Choose how lists inside records are written, and the separator and encoding.
- 3Download the CSV, or copy it.
Frequently asked questions
How are nested objects turned into columns?
Each nested field gets its own column, named by its path, such as address.city or address.pin, so every value has a cell.
What happens to lists inside a record?
By default each item gets its own column, such as tags.0 and tags.1. Choose Whole list in one cell to write the list as JSON text instead.
My JSON is an API response, not a list. Will it work?
Yes. When the file is an object, the longest list of records inside it, such as data or results, gives the rows. Turn this off to make the whole object one row.
Does it read JSON Lines (NDJSON)?
Yes. A file with one JSON object on each line is read as one record for each line.
How do I find the mistake in my JSON?
When the JSON can't be read, you are told the line and column where it goes wrong. A missing or extra comma, or a missing quote mark, is the usual cause.
