Frequently asked questions

How do I open a TIFF file?

Windows Photos and Preview on a Mac open TIFF files, but most browsers, phones and websites can't. Converting to JPG makes the picture open everywhere.

What happens to a TIFF with several pages?

Every page becomes a JPG of its own, named with its page number, such as scan-page-2.jpg. Download them one by one, or all together as a .zip.

Will the JPG be smaller than the TIFF?

Usually much smaller, because JPG is made for photos and scans. For black-and-white text pages, a PDF keeps them sharper and smaller still: use TIFF to PDF.

Is the scan's resolution kept?

Yes. The JPG has the same pixels as the page, and its DPI is copied, so it prints at the same size.
